Wow, summer sure went fast, can't believe it is time for hockey again, but happy!!It will be sad for going to games thinking if the team that perished, but will keep the families in my thoughts.If NBA lockout gets settled, will go to those games too.Spent time going to Chgo Comic Con and last week Scarefest in Lexington, KY, had alot of fun!! Two ex-Admirals players among 43 killed in Russian crash

Tunoshna, Russia - A private jet carrying a Russian professional hockey team to its first game of the season crashed shortly after takeoff Wednesday, killing 43 people, including two former members of the Milwaukee Admirals, officials said.

Two people survived the accident.

One of the worst aviation disasters in sports history, the crash also was the latest tragedy to befall the sport of hockey, following the sudden, offseason deaths of three of the National Hockey League's tough-guy enforcers that has shocked fans.

The chartered Yak-42 jet was carrying the team, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, where it was to play Thursday in its opening game of the Kontinental Hockey League season. Of the 45 people on board, 36 were players, coaches and team officials; eight were crew.

The plane apparently struggled to gain altitude and then hit a signal tower before breaking apart along the Volga River near Yaroslavl, about 150 miles northeast of Moscow.

"This is the darkest day in the history of our sport," said Rene Fasel, president of the International Ice Hockey Federation. "This is not only a Russian tragedy - the Lokomotiv roster included players and coaches from 10 nations."

"We have no team anymore," said Vladimir N. Malkov, spokesman for Lokomotiv.

One player, identified as Russian Alexander Galimov, and one unidentified crew member were hospitalized in "very grave" condition, said Alexander Degyatryov, chief doctor at Yaroslavl's Solovyov Hospital.

Among the dead were former Admirals Karlis Skrastins and Robert Dietrich.

Skrastins, 37, from Latvia, played for the Admirals from 1998 to 2000. A defenseman, he played in 832 NHL games, mainly for the Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche.

Dietrich played in Milwaukee from 2008 to 2010.

Milwaukee Admirals President Jon Greenberg said in a statement that Skrastins and Dietrich "were not only very good up-and-coming hockey players but also wonderful people. . . . The world of hockey is like a family and this summer has been a sad one for all of us."

Lokomotiv coach and NHL veteran Brad McCrimmon, a Canadian, was killed in the crash. McCrimmon, who took over as coach in May, was most recently an assistant coach with the Detroit Red Wings and played for years in the NHL for Boston, Philadelphia, Detroit, Calgary, Hartford and Phoenix.

Also killed were assistant coach Alexander Karpovtsev, one of the first Russians to have his name etched on the Stanley Cup as a member of the New York Rangers; Pavol Demitra, who played for the St. Louis Blues and the Vancouver Canucks and was the Slovakian national team captain; Czech players Josef Vasicek, Karel Rachunek and Jan Marek; Swedish goalie Stefan Liv; and defenseman Ruslan Salei of Belarus.

Russian NHL star Alex Ovechkin reflected the anguish that resonated through the sport of hockey when he tweeted: "I'm in shock!!!!!R.I.P."

The NHL already has been mourning three unexpected deaths of players in recent months, including a suicide and an accidental drug overdose.

The cause of the crash was not immediately apparent, but Russian news agencies cited local officials as saying it may have been due to technical problems. The plane was built in 1993 and belonged to a small Moscow-based company, Yak Service.

The Kontinental Hockey League has 24 professional teams across Russia, Belarus, Latvia, Kazakhstan and Slovakia that draws players from the NHL and European leagues.

In past plane crashes involving sports teams, 75 Marshall University football players, coaches, fans and airplane crew died in West Virginia on Nov. 14, 1970, while returning from a game.

Thirty members of a Uruguayan rugby club were killed in a crash in the Andes in 1972.

The entire 18-member U.S. figure skating team died in a crash on its way to the 1961 world championships in Brussels, and 18 members of the Torino soccer team died near Turin, Italy, in a 1949 crash.

Well it seems hockey season is over again and too soon. The Admirals couldn't pull off a game 7 to advance to the 3rd rd. Two years in a row, the same team beat us in game 7, it's depressing. They should have won in earlier games, but played as best they could. Hope some guys return. Wish them all a great summer and can't wait for next season as well as seeing alot of hockey friends.

It was so AWESOME to see Aaron Rodges finally get to take over as QB and help the team become Super Bowls Champs this year!! This was a fantastic team. Gotta love the Pack. :)

Looking forward to next year, might need to do a road trip to see them, Green Bay was tough to get tickets before this, lol.

It was nice that work closed because no way I was getting there, still trying to dig out. This is crazy weather!! Be careful if you are dealing with bad weather too.

I had off this week from work to enjoy the time for my birthday and Christmas but now my holiday vacation comes to an end........It was not without stress though, needed unexpected
new tires and my new computer decided to stop working, it is on it's way to the mfg and hoping it's covered by warranty, but did enjoy time with family. I still have the weekend off, but really liked not having the stress related with work. Wish I could retire early. ;)

Well, the summer sure went by fast and it is now time again for hockey and that also means the holidays are also fast approaching, wow this year is almost over.

I'm happy to have my fav sport back, not sure how our team will do with so many new faces, only hope they play well and we have fun times and maybe we'll be awared at playoff time. ;)

State Fair

Heather, Austin and I went to our State Fair today and had so much fun and took lots of pics.

Where are they you ask??? Well, when I went to upload them the stupid camera, connector OR combination w/computer the pics froze up and only 2 were saved, UGH!!! We had so many cute pics and now nothing, very disappointing. I for sure need to try to get a new camera w/memory card and hope this never happens again. sniff, sniff

Wizard World Comic-Con WOW

WOW, Austin and I went to our 1st comic-con in Rosemont Ill yesterday and we had such a fantastic time!!

We went to see Luke Goss of HellboyII because my friend Jeri runs his site and I am a fan but I had no idea until she posted about it. He is such a wonderful and generous person!! We are already planning to go next year too.

We also Dined with Demons which included Luke, Doug Jones and Camden Toy, courtesy of Derek Maki of Coolwaters Productions LLC. He treated us like VIPs, again thank you for a great time. Doug and Camden were also very nice and funny. All involved made this a memorable experience. Cameron Bright (New Moon) even came to the dinner to talk to Luke, which was cool too.

I chated with Margot Kidder (Superman), Jason Meraz (New Moon), Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters), Jake Busey (Starship Troopers), Ray Park (X'Men) & Michael Papajohn (Spiderman, Transformers 2, True Blood) and saw many others which was fun. Would have liked to talked to Rhona Mitra (Underworld:Rise) but didn't want to wait in the line, but saw her and Michelle Rodriquez, both very pretty ladies.

Also thank you goes to pwndcast.com, who offered a very nice prize: BFG Tech Ge Force graphic card, which Austin really wanted. Now to get that new computer I need to let him use it, lol.

Still bummed hockey is over........

It's not even been a week and I am still so bummed that our hockey season is over. :(

They should have won, they were the better team, but for some reason they blew the 7th game of the playoffs. This is what everyone looks forward too, a game 7 to decide who will advance. After a 7-0 victory last Monday to just fall apart on Wed, it was just so sad. I feel bad for the guys too, I know they tried, it just didn't look like it. No control of the game at all. Most of them will not return next yr to the Ads, including my fav player and that makes it even sadder. I wish them all the very best in their transactions and hopefully they will go to teams where they are happy and are appreciated.

I did get my jersey in time and thanks to my friends, they got it signed for me and I wore it Wed night.

:-) Sigh of relief that the Ads won their last rd game in Houston to bring the game back home on Monday. It is and was so nerve racking to see them go from 4-1 score to final 4-3 with 3 mins left. It is so hard to watch right now, because they have to play everything so well and win or they are done for the season. They have the ability to win, now just need to make sure they do!!

I am also waiting for a jersey that I finally gave in and purchased of my fav player, it was a great offer, so I treated myself, but I thought I'd get it Monday in time for the game, only to find out now I won't get it til Tuesday, so now I'm sad and frustrated about that and am trying very hard to figure out how to get it sooner. Or of course, I hope they win Mon and then play again Wed, now I really like the sound of that!! I have no much going on now, that all I want is alittle happiness, even it's a hockey game win or getting my jersey signed before he leaves.

So, all my friends out there keep you fingers crossed for me, ok. ;-)

I am so bummed right now. :( The Admirals are not playing very well in this round and they are so much better than the team they are playing. They lost 1 of 2 games at home last week, which is not goo, but they came off a long reat time in between series and lost yesterday in the opposing teams city and they play there again tomorrow and Sat and MUST pull it off and show up to play and WIN!!!! If they win 1 of the 2 they return home and then MUST win the last 2 games to advance. I know they can do this, they just need to come together as a team again and do it!

It is heart wrenching to see them lose, esp at home, but I'd like to see them again either way, of course I want them to WIN though. Just wanted to speak outloud, so to speak.

It is so hard when you have a passion and you have to let it go, even for only a short time until it returns, I'm not ready for hockey to end yet, it's not June. ;)

Admirals Sweep the 1st round!!

The Milwaukee Admirals sweep the Icehogs in the first round on the playoffs. WOOHOO!!!!!

I am so happy about my fav line of Jed Ortmeyer, Mike Santorelli and Ryan Jones. They dominated the 4th game with all points scored!! Jed had a goal and 3 assists, Mike had a hat trick (3 goals), also an assist and Ryan 2 asists. The team was outstanding!

Now the waiting game of seto see who we play in the next round, either Houston or Peoria. Hoping for Peoria, Ill. for possible road trips. We were supposed to have a game tomorrow night, but since they won, our next game is not until next Thursday.

It's playoff time!

WOOHOO!! I am so happy that our AHL hockey team made it to the playoffs. They clinched their division and almost won in overall points, didn't lost out by much at all. And we get our players back from their parent club in the NHL, the Nashville Predators. I am hoping they go all the way, they have a great team this year!

Wow, Christmas went fast once it was upon us. Spent part fo the day with my daughter and grandkids, have alot of fun watching their faces light up, means more to me then alot of people know. My daughter surprised me with a few very special gifts, she knows what I like with out saying what I would like, esp since I rarely know what I might like to get, lol. Today I'm making my holiday meal, growing up, Thanksgiving meal and Christmas was the same thing and I love turkey, even though I can have it other times, means more during the holidays.

And after the past few weeks we have had so much snow, then today it reaches 50 degress and is raining and very very foggy, so alot is melting, now hopefully no major flooding to come. I will expect it to return to winter very soon and bring more snow. But at least we had a beautiful white Christmas.

Well, we got more snow today which closed most of the city. We have had snow almost every other day last week and my area received 11 inches today. These pics are my front, driveway, and my poor little dog who is about buried in snow. Luckily my work closed too, after seeing all the white stuff when I woke up, I knew that there was NO way I was getting out of my driveway, it was up to my knees!! They didn't even plow our street til late about 6:00 pm.
And when the city plows clean the streets, it buries the end on my driveway again, so I have to dig out each time.

And we are expecting more snow this weekend, I love Wisconsin and snow, but this is ENOUGH already!!!

So, does anyone want some free snow?

I found this to be very touching, sensitive and an inspirational story. You will not be able to hold back the tears of sorrow and genuine kindness.

The Paper Bag Christmas affected me so much on a personal level. My daughter Rachel was very sick and reading about some of the children brought up those memories, so I can empathize with them. This time of year is about opening up and inviting others into your hearts.

The secret looks, then the touch and that was it. I was chuckling out loud with their words and emotions towards one another and like I said, I didn’t want the story to end. Mr. Wrong is not always who it seems to be, he might be Mr. Right after all. I love early an Christmas present.

We typically don’t ever offer multiple reviews of a book here on the site, but we decided to break the rules and do it for Breaking Dawn the fourth and final installment in the The Twilight Saga. So, apparently besides the books which you can get in just about any format now (except paperback) there are about 8 billion other fan related items available that I didn’t know about LOL. I have seen several teenage girls walking around with strange men plastered on their persons and wondered about them. I now know where the faces come from. Here’s a shining example of a shirt you could own from the Amazon Twilight Store(of course there’s a whole store dedicated to the books). If you click on the pictures you can get all the info on the products and pick up some for your very own (hint this will help you get an entry into the contest).

Is it just me, or do you find it semi-disturbing that his eyeballs are right on your boobs when you wear this shirt? If and this is a big if, I were to get a shirt, it would be of the whole cast! Because what could be better than one set of eyes on chest? Well a whole crew of them! LOL

So, how many of you have your Twilight gear on and are ready for the movie tonight? I know many thousands are very disappointed in the fact that the family jewels were not available for the premier. Very poor timing on Amazon’s part if I do say so myself. Hmm I wonder if the Cullen family realizes there “family jewels” are up for grabs on Amazon as an exclusive prize? he he he Never fear these beauties are on pre-order and should start shipping to get to you or your loved one in time for Yule.

All joking aside, this would be a pretty cool gift for that Twilight fanatic that has everything. Those who were pre-planning for tonights big event probably already have one of the few items that are still in stock on their person. Yes, it is the chic and surreal replica of Edward’s wrist cuff.
I don’t really find myself drawn to it, but to each their own. You could go for something more subtle like the pins (and less expensive).

What I would like for Yule is the complete unabridged set of CD’s that you can get as an entire set. Come on, I can wish can’t I? Seriously, this would be something I would really dig over any of the other stuff. It is pretty pricey, but all in all it is less than buying them one at a time. Get all the pain out of the way in one shot I always say.

You get the entire series read to you. Great for those with long commutes or who have eye problems and audio books are your thing. Me, I am just lazy and like to be read to! LOL

Once Upon a Thanksgiving by Holly Jacobs

Samantha Williams, is a divorced mom with 3 boys, a daughter and a very demanding cat. So, as if trying to work and raise her family was not enough, she has now volunteered to do a Thanksgiving pagent at the kids school. So there is no time to even think about a relationship anytime soon or so she thinks until she meets up with an old childhood friend Harry Remington, who turns out to be the new interim principle at the same school. Harry is enjoying spending time with Samantha's family as friends, but he realizes how he misses what a real home can be.

Samantha and Harry were very affectionate toward one another and they let their passions open up and not think about the past. I loved it how Harry was not afraid to show his feelings toward a woman with kids and that he could not love only Samantha, but her children too.

I thought Holly did a wonderful job of making you feel part of the family, just with her words.

The weird sense of deja vu exploded into something else entirely. Something that shook her to the core. His eyes narrowed and he reached up, caught her chin in his, staring at her.

She was pale and Cullen thought she looked every bit as shaken as he felt. “The dreams,” he muttered. He caught her face in his hands and forced her to look at him, staring into her pale gray eyes. The ugly, dark bruise around her left eye made her iris seem that much paler and as he watched, the pupil flared, enlarging until just a sliver of gray of visible.

Taige tried to jerk away and he wouldn’t let her. “You had the dreams, too, didn’t you?” he demanded.

Her voice shook as she reached up with one hand to jerk on his wrist, trying to break his hold. “Let go of me.”

Slowly, he shook his head. “You have,” he whispered, dismay spreading through him.

Dismay–and something else. She’d always held herself apart from him in those dreams. But through those dreams, he’d gotten to know her, gotten to know the woman she had become. She was pulling away from him not because she was angry at him, or because she didn’t want anything to do with him.

She pulled back because she still loved him.

It's October and I love when the colors change, not so much when the leaves fall and I have to rake them up, but it sure gets pretty. Then comes Halloween and is there anyone who does not enjoy Halloween!

I really enjoyed this book. I don't have any sisters, but after reading this, it gave me an idea of how they could be. It was filled with a smart gifted, woman Claire, who can't really take care of herself, who now wants to make amends with both of her sisters and help care for her twin sister Nicole who is sick. Nicole can be mean with her words and unforgiving. Jesse, who is the youngest of the three, needs alot of growing up to do to become close again, but she seems to keep making mistakes which makes it harder.

Claire holds her ground and who will give everything she has to close the gaps, they are family afterall. She has been having panic attacks which have forced her to leave her profession for now. She meets Wyatt and his little daughter Amy, who can not hear, but can feel the music. Claire has met her match and is falling for Wyatt, who is all against the thought of being involved with any woman, let alone this one. But Claire is one woman he can not resist. Claire wants love, her family together and to be happy. She will succeed.

It's a tasty treat without the added calories.

I'm looking forward to reading the other 2 books, to get to know the sisters.

I have won several contests for books, which I am very greatful for, but I think that this is really cool and wanted to share it with you.

I found a fun blog site here: http://www.ridingwiththetopdown.blogspot.com/ and entered a contest and not only did I win an ARC of Cindy Gerard's "SHOW NO MERCY", but my name will also appear as a character in the 3rd book of her new Black Ops Inc. series, "WHISPER NO LIES", which will be released in January, 2009.. Cindy is even graciously going to send me a copy of it when it's released! I also love Cindy's last name, it reminds me of Gerard Butler, he, he. :)
